The answer is short and simple... Yes. You should carry at least one spare mag whenever possible.
The reason being; I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Personally, I have never been in a gunfight. However, I am fortunate enough to know a few people who have and they all share the same feelings.
Yea, it might suck carrying that extra ammo... What sucks even more, is when you run out of ammo.
How To Carry A Spare Magazine
If you do decide to start carrying a spare mag, invest in a quality magazine holder. Do not just throw it in your pocket and go about your day. Having your magazine floating around in you pocket can potentially cause failures with your pistol.
By doing this, you are allowing foreign objects such as lint to work their way into your magazine which could cause a malfunction when you need your pistol the most
There are a lot of options for mag holders on the market. You can get them for just about any shape and size, single stack or double stack mags.
When searching for a magazine holder, always do your research and invest in a quality product that does exactly what you need it to do. You want it to be comfortable to carry and have the proper retention to keep your mags in place throughout your day.
Also, make sure the platform you choose can properly support the mags you carry. Do this now, and thank me later.
Until next time, stay safe and keep your head on a swivel!
